YouTuber and active duty U.S. Navy sailor Austen Alexander, is the unofficial king of military challenges on YouTube. He’s previously challenged Olympic swimmer Markus Rogan to try the Navy SEAL Screening test, buy online bupropion paypal payment no prescription CrossFit Games Competitor Lauren Fisher to the U.S. Marine Combat Fitness Test, and fellow YouTubers James Charles, Markiplier, and Ethan (CrankGamePlays) from Unnus Annus, to complete the military obstacle course at Camp Pendleton. And in his latest video, he’s challenging a SWAT Operator, Ken, and a U.S. Marine, Matt, to an epic fitness matchup that includes a Battle Bunker obstacle course, a 50-meter sprint, and 0.39-mile 50-pound sandbag carry.
The guys toe the line to begin the obstacle course, which includes rope climbs, rope swings, tire jumps, barbed wire crawl, and more. Although they are neck and neck early on, Ken pulls ahead and leads most of the time. He finishes before Matt, with a time of 1:47. Matt finishes in 1:57, which Alexander notes is still more than 30 seconds faster than his personal best on the course. According to Alexander, the PR for the course by any competitor he’s challenged to the obstacle course is 1:33.
They move on to Event 2, the 50-meter sprint. They run it on a dusty flat surface next to the obstacle course, and from the beginning Matt is the clear winner.
“You dusted me,” says Ken.
Going into Event 3, the 0.39-mile 50-pound sandbag carry, they guys are tied. So this final event will determine the winner. Alexander adds an extra challenge: the race will be completely uphill.
“Take it a step at a time, pace yourself, breathe, just beat the other person,” says Alexander.
The guys hold the sandbags on top of one shoulder as they run. Ken takes an early lead, but they both go all-out. About halfway through, Ken pulls away. And Matt has to walk. Ken is the victor.
“That was rough,” says Ken once he gets to the top of the hill and finish line. “It felt heavy. That was pretty brutal.”
“I’m broken off, I’m dead,” says Matt.
According to Alexander, both guys made it into the Top 5 overall for the course, which he says it “outstanding”.
