The teetotal fitness fanatic, now 53, said that health was not at the forefront of her life before she had tests. Davina, who once admitted an addiction to Class A drugs, said: “When they said I had high cholesterol, I just looked at my GP and asked if it was mistake!

“I considered myself to be healthy and it never crossed my mind I would be at risk of something like this. I always associated high cholesterol with something you get when you’re old – definitely not something you develop in your 20s!”

She said cheese and processed meats had been a regular feature of her weekly diet.

“I wasn’t going to be able to do that if I didn’t do anything about my cholesterol.”

Davina is fronting Cholesterol Uncovered campaign launched by health foods firm Raisio Nutrition.
