Cardi B Has a Message for People Who Shame Her Makeup-Free Face

We know Cardi B loves makeup. You just have to look at her in music videos, on stage, or just hanging out to know she appreciates the artistry that goes into it. She also loves how she looks without makeup, as she very well should. What she hates is when people try to make her feel bad for how she looks when she goes makeup-free, and she shared her feelings in a new video that confidently puts trolls in their place.

On Tuesday, February 9, Cardi decided she'd had enough of people trying to bring her down — and over her appearance, of all things — so she took to Instagram to share a candid-as-can-be, completely on-brand video addressing the matter.

"Y'all take pictures or videos of me with no makeup while I'm in motion and be like, ‘Oh, look at Cardi. She looks so weird without no makeup,'" Cardi says in the makeup-free selfie video. "This is me with no makeup, no filter. You could see all the, you know, the little blemishes on my face. Shit, you can see my lip's so chapped — I've been biting it all night. I just woke up 20 minutes ago. Didn't brush my hair. Like, I feel good."

Cardi goes on to call out people who try to insult women when they're having success. "When y'all see them doing so good, y'all be trying to put their confidence down. That don't work on me anymore," she says. "I just want to channel that I feel comfortable in my skin. That I'm great. That I'm happy. My record is doing great. And just because you got so much hatred in your heart that when I do great, y'all want to put it down — you can't. I'ma stay on top with this face, with this natural face, makeup or not. A bitch is doing good."

She reiterates the sentiment in her caption, writing, "I never been afraid to show my real self. When YOU ON TOP the miserable and the ugly love to screenshot pictures while you in motion then criticize your face. I'm confident in my own skin. You bitches need to ask ya self if ya confidence in ya self enought that ya gotta try to bring bitches down for a hobby that’s winning and in their 20s."

Hopefully, her words stop some of the haters from continuing their shady practices, but since that's unfortunately unlikely, they can at least uplift others into a more confident place when they're faced with similar shit-talking.
