It's no secret that Sha'Carri Richardson has been the topic of conversation over the past few weeks. She first hopped into the spotlight after qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics with a 10.86-second run in the 100-meter race — and doing it all while looking good as hell with a bright orange wig and lengthy pink talons. Though Richardson won't be able to compete at the Olympics this year, we are still rooting for her and her extensive wig collection over here. Our recent fave — the sleek burgundy wig she debuted at the 2021 ESPY Awards on Saturday, July 10.
The young athlete looked like a dream at the ESPYs in a bedazzled black gown, long ballerina-shaped nails, and a straight sangria-colored unit, which truly is the star of the look. Hairstylist Nikki Nelms made sure that this middle part unit was slicked down. Not one piece of garnet hair was out of place.
This wig is definitely giving scalp with how well Nelms installed it. We especially love that she went for the deep burgundy color. The silky 99J unit was truly a great choice to pair with the strappy gown. It falls right near her waist, giving her plenty of inches to whip and flip around.
As for makeup, Richardson made sure not to let up. Makeup artist Sheika Daley kept the look more on the neutral side and made Richardson look like a glowing beauty. Her radiant skin is truly breathtaking. Of course, clomid challange test as many young Black women do, she stepped out with a pair of lengthy fluffy lashes paired with a glossy nude lip.
At the awards, she sat down for an interview with The Undefeated and shared the three women that inspire her colorful beauty choices: her grandmother, mother, and, of course, the iconic track star Flo Jo. "She did everything you thought she couldn't do in a way you thought she couldn't do it. Of course, that's definitely my inspiration," she says of Flo Jo. "Every time I step on the track I'm going to show you long nails, a different color hair… As long as my community loves it, I'ma bring it every time."
Sha'Carri, we surely can't wait to see what nail design and wig you go for next. (We're voting for yellow.)
