Bloating is when the stomach becomes swollen, which can often occur after eating. It is rarely a sign of a serious medical condition, but it can cause pain and discomfort. If prone to bloating or wanting to help reduce your symptoms, avoid any of these foods, says experts.
Foods with seeds
The seeds in vegetables and fruits are rich in nutrients and can be eaten, buy generic avodart no prescription but those with sensitive digestion and prone to stomach bloating should avoid these types of foods says experts.
The seeds are known to irritate sensitive stomach causing bloating and gas.
“While research on this has been varied, people with stomach issues have previously been told to avoid foods with seeds, with the thinking being that these food particles could block or irritate the diverticula, or small pouches that form in the colon wall,” said wellness expert Lauren Imparato.
Fatty foods
Fried or very greasy foods will often add extra strain to your digestive system.
As well as being behind the bloat they can also increase the risk of heartburn and stomach aches.
If you struggle with your digestion you may want to consider cutting back or avoiding fatty foods such as fry ups or fast food entirely.
Salty foods
Salty foods can be an issue when trying to tackle your bloat.
When you eat foods that are high in salt this will encourage your body to hold onto fluids.
This can result in bloating, so next time you need a snack perhaps you should ditch the crisps if you struggle with regular bloating.
Alcohol
Alcohol is an inflammatory substance, therefore consuming it will increase inflammation in the gastrointestinal lining.
Bad news for beer drinkers as this alcohol beverage has been named the biggest bloating culprit due to its interaction and irritation in the gut.
It also contains yeast, which feeds on the harmful bacteria in the gut, and fermentable carbohydrates, such as barley and wheat.
It is best to drink water or tea as an alternative, however, if people want to drink alcoholic beverages, wines and spirits should cause significantly less bloating and gas than beer.
Other surprising foods which are known to increase your bloating symptoms include:
- Apples
- Pears
- Barley
- Onions
- Sweeteners
- Dairy products
- Garlic
- Wheat
- Carbonated beverages.
