A new year always inspires change, especially when we're putting a particularly rotten year behind us. So if you're running screaming from 2020, it's completely understandable if you're eager to make a major shift in your look, like a new hair color. And after seeing this breathtaking work by colorist Maggie Hancock, we have a feeling a lot of people will be trying what we're calling peaches-and-cream hair.
Hancock, who works at Phan Haus in Scottsdale, Arizona, posted a photo of her client, Minxie, with a truly dreamy hairstyle and color. The super long shag with curtain bangs features loose yet sculptural waves that emphasize the real cornerstone of the look: the ginger and beige-blonde color.
"My client started with natural medium-brown hair, and we wanted to do a big change to match her vibrant, fun personality," Hancock tells Allure. "We decided to do some unique color blocking placement, right next to her ears."
Hancock lightened her whole head before coloring her hair using three shades of Schwarzkopf Igora Royal permanent hair color for the red areas (the coppery 7-77, copper-blonde 9-57, and vibrant red 0-88 to be exact) and one for the blonde strands (the golden 9-55. She then styled it with Schwarzkopf Osis+ products and Babyliss Pro hot tools. To help her client maintain the look, Hancock sent her home with Alterna Caviar Replenishing Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner and the Blondme Tone Enhancing Bonding Mask for Warm Blondes. "She will return every seven weeks for her root touch up and re-tone," Hancock says.
This look is definitely best left to a professional, so if you're as inspired to try it as we are, you'll want to make sure your chosen salon is following recommended health and hygiene protocols to ensure your and your stylist's safety.
