Sharing his opinion on child vaccination – currently suggested for 12-17 year olds with pre-existing health conditions, and those living with someone who is immunocompromised – the doctor said: “Do I think that’s a good idea? Yes I do.” However, Dr Hilary took it one step further, suggesting that ALL secondary school children should be vaccinated. “The transmissibility is high in this group… across the board,” was his reasoning. The Covid case numbers is 17 times higher in the teenage age bracket compared to adults over the age of 70.

Referencing the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr Hilary said the organisation also “recommends children to get vaccinated”.

Secondary school children can still experience long Covid; Dr Hilary pointed out that 15 percent of them do.

Coronavirus vaccination protects you against severe disease if you come in contact with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. However, being fully vaccinated doesn’t guarantee you can’t catch and pass on Covid.

In fact, you’re more likely to experience certain symptoms if you have been double jabbed and then catch Covid. To help protect others around you, and not infect too many people, it’s wise to know when you need to take a test.

According to Tim Spector’s latest research, published in the Covid Symptom Study, there are five “top” symptoms you need to be aware of.

Firstly, people who have been double jabbed – no matter by which vaccine – are more likely to experience a “runny nose”.

Secondly, the vaccinated cohort are also more likely to get a headache, to sneeze, or to get a sore throat.

Lastly, this group of people are also more likely to experience a loss of smell – one of the classic signs of Covid.

Top five Covid symptoms after two vaccine doses:

  1. Runny nose
  2. Headache
  3. Sneezing
  4. Sore Throat
  5. Loss of smell.

The NHS noted the classic symptoms of Covid that enable you to order a free PCR test.

This includes a new, continuous cough, a high temperature, or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

Meanwhile, people are encouraged to take two weekly rapid flow tests – also available for free from the NHS – to check you’re not carrying the disease.

If you do experience any of the “top” symptoms of Covid, do check your Covid status by utilising a rapid flow test.

The rapid flow tests can show you the results within half an hour and, if you do test positive, then you can order a more accurate PCR test.

For those who haven’t been vaccinated, the “top” five symptoms of a Covid infection goes as follows:

  1. Headache
  2. Sore throat
  3. Runny nose
  4. Fever
  5. Persistent cough.

These lists of symptoms are taken from the Covid Symptom Study dataset, taken 30 days up to July 14, 2021.

Long Covid is affecting more than one million people, and it’s distinguished by lingering Covid symptoms.

Symptoms that remain after 12 weeks of infection are classified as long Covid by the NHS.

The likelihood of this viral after effect isn’t connected to how ill a person falls when they first catch Covid.

Symptoms of long Covid:

  • Extreme tiredness (fatigue)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain or tightness
  • Problems with memory and concentration (“brain fog”)
  • Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
  • Heart palpitations
  • Dizziness
  • Pins and needles
  • Joint pain
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Tinnitus, earaches
  • Feeling sick, diarrhoea, stomach aches, loss of appetite
  • A high temperature, cough, headaches, sore throat, changes to sense of smell or taste
  • Rashes.

Any Covid symptoms that linger for four weeks are more are best discussed with your doctor.
