As her baby boy grows older, Brittany Mahomes is sharing more and more about her nearly 5-month-old son. In fact, she recently divulged the special night Patrick III, whom she and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback husband Patrick Mahomes II have nicknamed “Bronze,” was conceived. The former professional soccer player also shared her son’s birth story, which included a scary but common complication.
Taking to her Instagram Story on Sunday to hold a Q&A for curious followers, the Kansas City Currants co-owner answered a variety of questions, from the tattoos she has that represent her two kids (she also shares a 2-year-old daughter, Sterling, with Mahomes) to mom guilt. The mama of two also opened up about how different labor and delivery were with each of her kids, noting that while Bronze’s birth was quicker, it was momentarily more stressful than Sterling’s.
The Night Bronze Was Conceived
One fan question read, “Was Bronze planned?”
Brittany responded, “Nope lol,” adding “Happened on our wedding night” with a blushing emoji. Even with the pregnancy being unplanned, we can’t think of a more perfect conception story than one of post-nuptial bliss!
Sterling’s Birth Story vs. Bronze’s
Another question requested Brittany’s labor and delivery stories, which she broke down by child.
For Sterling, the fitness trainer shared that she was induced at 39 weeks and 4 days, had her water broken and Pitocin started at 9:00 am, received an epidural at 3:00 pm, started pushing by 7:00 pm, and delivered her little girl within 20 minutes.
Although Bronze arrived quicker than his big sister, his birth involved a potentially life-threatening complication. Brittany wrote that she was induced at 39 weeks and 3 days with her son with her water having partially broken that morning. She explained that her doctor put her on Pitocen by noon, gave her an epidural around 1:30 pm, and had her pushing by 5:00 pm.
Her second-born arrived within a speedy 7 minutes of pushing, but “His [umbilical] cord was wrapped around his neck two times,” Brittany revealed. She added that the complication thankfully didn’t affect the baby’s health.
Telling Patrick She Was Pregnant
One person was curious about how the mom of two told her husband about her pregnancies, asking if she had any “cute stories” about the reveals. Brittany responded, “Nothing cute lol, both were ‘oh sh*t’ moments ?.” We love a good well-thought-out pregnancy reveal, but shell-shocked admissions are just as common!
Patrick and Brittany welcomed Sterling in February 2021, with Bronze following almost two years later in November 2022. Of being a father, the Super Bowl MVP told PEOPLE, “It truly is an amazing feeling to know I get to go to work every single day for something and then get to come home and enjoy the time I get with them.”
We just can’t get enough of this wholesome family.
